The new Fall is great, as is Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - "Before Today". I'm also loving the debut album by Western Australia's Tame Impala - "Innerspeaker".

I, too, am enjoying the Fall album. Best since The Marshall Suite, IMO (once fo my faves, I should point out)

Looks like they've spent a few quid on the video too.

The Gil Scott Heron album is rather excellent and stands above a lot of decent but not brilliant fare this year.

I was surprised to be impressed by Janelle Monae's recent Archandroid concept album.
Also has anyone else noticed an intriguing overlap between her stuff and Barru Adamson's solo material?
Right then I'll get me coat ...

Was listening to the Monae album on the way into work this morning, awesome, life-affirming stuff. That, the sublime John Grant and Blitzen Trapper records are the sound of the summer!

Brooklyn indie band Depreciation Guild (who are also half of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) have just released their second album and cite Microdisney as an influence on their myspace page:

The new Eels (the second this year) is more keyboard influenced and dare I say it cheerful than the last few have been. A couple of listens have had me fondly imagining that he's worked through some stuff like when an old friend finally sorts their life out. Well I enjoyed it anyway.
